Two organizations in the Cariboo region will share $24,167 in the latest round of gaming grants released today by the provincial government.
The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society will receive $4,167 and 100 Mile House and District Historical Society will receive $20,000.
"One of these groups will help promote the education and conservation of our ecosystem, while the other will support tourism and preserve local heritage," says Cariboo Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett. "These gaming grants will allow these organizations to continue to provide top-quality services in our community."
Across B.C., 146 recipients will share $3,161,195 in this latest round of grants from provincial gaming revenue.
The grants are the first from provincial gaming revenue announced for the new fiscal year, which began on April 1, 2011. This round of grants will help important local groups provide services for British Columbia families.
Beneficiaries cover a broad range of community interests, including sports, arts and culture, festivals, and parent advisory and district parent advisory councils.
