The Conservation Officer Service is warning Williams Lake and area residents of a scam involving the illegal sale of elk and moose meat.

The Conservation Officer Service is warning Williams Lake and area residents of a scam involving the illegal sale of elk and moose meat.

Sgt. Len Butler said the scam sees the suspects going door-to-door in neighbourhoods collecting money and orders for wild game.

The suspects then take the money and never return with the meat.

Butler wants to remind the public it is illegal to buy or sell wild game.

He said the COS is investigating these individuals from complaints in the Quesnel area last year as well.
