Members of the public wanting to comment on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency's proposed Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 have until May 23, 2012.
The proposed act provides a new federal environmental assessment process that focuses on major projects that have the potential to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
CEAA says the regulations under development will prescribe information to be included in a project description; and the services and amounts for which the agency could recover costs from the proponent of a project undergoing an environmental assessment by a review panel.
A consultation document, "Regulations Required to Implement the Proposed Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012," is available on the agency's website at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca.
