Darlene Head's appeal for help to clean the mess at the Colpit Lake Road gravel pit outside of Williams Lake is gaining traction and several local businesses have offered to help.

"I've got a disposal bin being donated, a towing company coming to take away the cars and another business bringing in a tractor," Darlene said Monday. "We are going to meet there on Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. Now all I need is some manpower."

Last week she told the Tribune the mess has been building for about four years, with people leaving things such as burnt out cars, a boat and freezer.

The area is also being used for target practice and is filled with litter.

To get to the gravel pit, drive about 10 kilometres up the Dog Creek Road. Turn left on Colpit Road and drive about four or five kilometres.

"When you pass the old wood dump you take the next left," Darlene said.

Anyone wanting to contact Darlene can call 250-398-7248 or check out the Colpit Gravel Pit Cleanup Facebook page to message her.
