City council directed staff to prepare the necessary amending bylaws needed to amend a metal shipping container bylaw, at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The City says there is little control of placement, appearance, and allowable size of containers on properties.
The amendments will allow shipping containers on residential properties on a temporary basis, and will require a permit.
Commercial and industrial properties would be allowed to have the containers on a temporary or permanent basis, but the containers must be screened from view in the case of a permanent container.
