The City of Williams Lake is looking for a new director of finance after the mayor and council “released without cause” former director Margaret Stewart.

Mayor Walt Cobb confirmed Thursday that Stewart was released Friday, May 22, but declined to provide further details citing the matter was a personnel issue.

Cobb, however, said he wished Stewart the best.

Stewart began working for the city about four years ago and became the director of finance after Pat Higgins left the post at the end of 2013.
