The City of Williams Lake will hold a public information meeting on its 2011 preliminary budget March 10 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The City of Williams Lake will hold a public information meeting on its 2011 preliminary budget March 10 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The budget proposes a three per cent increase in taxation over 2010. The City says this is necessary to address general inflationary costs and to cover increases to the RCMP contract, solid waste management, negotiated salaries and debt servicing.

The capital budget includes funding for upgrades to the traffic signals at Third Avenue and Oliver Street, the final design for Woodland Drive water and sewer services, completion of dewatering of the city’s wastewater treatment lagoons, Phase 2 of the River Valley Trail storm water system, irrigation at Boitanio Park bike park and the relocation of the Station House Gallery.

The budget does not propose any increases in water or sewer rates or any new borrowing.
