City of Williams Lake hires new CAO

City of Williams Lake will have a new CAO in March

A new chief administrative officer has been hired for the City of Williams Lake.

Don DeGagne, with 28 years of local government experience, will start work on Mar. 1, Mayor Kerry Cook announced at the council meeting Tuesday.

"Don will be bringing his experience to Williams Lake. He has worked throughout a number of communities in B.C.," Cook said.

Most recently DeGagne has served as CAO for the District of Summerland, a position he's held since 2005. He has also worked for the City of Revelstoke, the City of Trail, the District of Mackenzie, the City of Prince George, and the Village of Keremeos.

Cook said the city received over 90 applications for the position.

DeGagne replaces former CAO Brian Carruthers, who left the position in November to work for the Regional District of the Central Kootenays.

"I encourage the community to openly welcome him," Coun. Ivan Bonnell said.
