City: crews working around the clock to clear snow

The City says it will work day and night to clear the large amount of snow that has fallen.

The City says it will work day and night to clear the large amount of snow that has fallen.

“Our focus tonight (Wednesday) will be to clean up the downtown core and truck the snow out,” says Kevin Goldfuss, director of municipal services. “At the same time, we will be focussed on clearing the residential areas.”

The City’s sidewalk-clearing machine has continued to experience mechanical problems, and City staff are working to repair it.

Depending on parts availability, the repair may take several days.

In the meantime, municipal services is exploring the option of hiring a contractor to assist in clearing sidewalks. Residents and business owners are reminded that they are required to clear snow from the sidewalks bordering their properties.

“We are committed to keeping the streets and sidewalks clear,” Goldfuss says.

“We ask for the public’s patience as we work to remove the snow.”
