The body of 35-year-old Shane Colebank of Deep Creek who slipped while dip-net fishing on the Fraser River at Xat'sull Heritage Site Road on July 31 has been recovered.

Police said on Friday, Aug. 5, at 3:35 a.m. the Williams Lake RCMP received information of a body in the Fraser River three kilometers north of Dog Creek.

Officers, with the assistance of conservation officers and RCMP Air 3 support, were able to retrieve the body.

The BC Coroners Service has taken over the investigation and will not be releasing further information.

Police said at the time of the incident, an extensive ground, air, and river search was conducted but the missing man was not located.

Colebank did have a safety rope tied to himself when he fell in, however, the rope broke on the sharp rocks while he was being pulled back to shore.
