UPDATED: New fire near Comstock Lake ‘being held’

The fire is still 76 hectares in size

Updated, April 24 at 2:10 p.m.:

The fire started on Batnuni Road near Comstock Lake is now being held, according to Erin Bull, a Fire Information Officer for the Cariboo.

“So now that it’s being held, what that means is that with the resources currently committed to the fire, sufficient suppression action has been taken that the fire is not likely to spread beyond existing boundaries,” says Bull.

It remains 76 hectares in size, with 21 firefighters, four pieces of heavy equipment and one helicopter still on site. Bull says snow also fell on the fire overnight.
