Council approves travel expenses

City council approved travel and accommodation Tuesday for Mayor Kerry Cook and Coun. Geoff Bourdon to attend the Northern Mayor’s and Regional District Chairs’ Transportation Roundtable March 3-4, 2011 at the Civic Centre in Prince George.

City council authorized Mayor Kerry Cook to attend the 2011 Local Government Leadership Academy Forum in Richmond Feb. 16-18.

Janitorial contract renewed

Council renewed the janitorial contract with PACT Ltd. for the period April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, at a total cost of $75,516.24, including HST.

Airport lease

assignment approved

Council approved a lease assignment between Allied Aircraft Sales Inc. and Westcan Aircraft Sales & Salvage Ltd., for 1,253 m2 located at the Williams Lake Regional Airport subject to all City account balances with respect to lease number CWL2900 being paid in full.

Support offered for Northern Lodge campaign

Council agreed to send a letter of support to the Canadian Cancer Society for the development of the Northern Lodge.

The Canadian Cancer Society is developing a lodge in Prince George in conjunction with the new B.C. Cancer Agency’s Centre for the North.

The lodge will provide a home for patients and caregivers travelling to Prince George for treatment. Williams Lake residents seeking cancer treatment have the options of seeking treatment in Prince George even though it is in the Northern Health Region.
