Arrests made in brazen, violent robbery

Off-duty police officers out on a night off in Williams Lake thwarted a theft and violent robbery in progress early Saturday morning.

Staff Sgt. Del Byron said the incident took place just after midnight, on Nov. 26, when the off-duty members inside Boston Pizza noticed one male stealing a chainsaw out of the back of a truck and then join two other male suspects and one female suspect as they approached a male outside.

The suspects demanded money from the random victim, who just passing by, before pushing him to the ground, and kicking and beating him as they violently robbed him of money and personal items.

Byron said the officers called for backup before running to the scene and were able to arrest two males and the one female suspect.

The 46-year-old victim suffered facial injuries in the attack.

Byron said he was glad his officers were able to make arrests in the violent incident.
