Anaham election Sunday

Members of the Tl'etinqox (Anaham) Reserve will got to the polls this Sunday to elect a new chief and council.

Originally the election was scheduled for Feb. 8, 2015, however, due to an administrative error in the printing of councillor ballots and the need to provide new ballots to voters, the election date was reset for Feb. 22.

Six people are running for the position of Chief and 60 people for 12 Councillor positions.

Vying for Chief are incumbent Joey James Alphonse, Anthony Billyboy Sr., Sidney Darel Harry, former chief Gerald Johnny, Deborah Kathleen Lynn Ilnicki and Rosanna Tracy Stump.

Voters can view the past year's financial statement, renumeration and expenses for band council members on the Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada's website.

Voting will take place at the Elders Centre, Highway 20, Alexis Creek, on Sunday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. while off-reserve electors have the option to use mail-in ballots provided by the electoral officer.
