100 Mile House RCMP arrest man wanted on Canada-wide warrant

The 100 Mile House RCMP arrested a 32-year-old man Tuesday believed to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for immigration offences.

With the co-operation of the public Tuesday, the 100 Mile House RCMP arrested a 32-year-old man believed to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for immigration offences.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. on July 15, RCMP members located Jeremy Dillon Estes near the entrance to Centennial Park in 100 Mile House.

"When members attempted to arrest the male, he fled on foot toward the downtown area then to the 100 Mile House Airport," Cpl. Brian Lamb noted in a press release.

The male managed to jump a number of fences and evade immediate arrest.

Several bystanders, however, assisted the police in locating Estes' last point of travel.

When he attempted to run into a wooded area near First Street, he was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.

Estes entered Canada illegally in May 2014, police said.

In June, the Hope RCMP attempted to arrest him, however, he successfully evaded arrest after contact was made.

Then on July 12, Estes was stopped by Clinton RCMP, but again fled on foot, evading arrest.

"It was believed based on this recent contact in Clinton that Estes could possibly be in the 100 Mile House area," Lamb said, adding Estes was also wanted in the U.S. for violating terms of his probation.

Estes will be held in 100 Mile House until he can be turned over to Canadian Border Services Agency.

"100 Mile House RCMP would like to thank the citizens of 100 Mile House who assisted in directing the members to Estes after he fled," Lamb said.
