Williams Lake Stampede ready to saddle up with C-5

C-5 Rodeo Company is ready to saddle up for this year's 96th annual Williams Lake Stampede, as the new stock contractor for 2024.

C-5 Rodeo Company is ready to saddle up for this year's 96th annual Williams Lake Stampede, as the new stock contractor for 2024.

The company is based in Lac La Biche, Alberta and Helena, Montana and was founded in 2010 by Vern McDonald. Between their two locations, the company said they span just over 8,500 acres combined and have 150 mares and 20 stallions in their breeding program.

They said they supply stock for over 30 locations worldwide and they are known as one of the largest bucking horse suppliers in North America. The company promises to prioritize key production elements, including premier stock and reasonable performance length.

Gillian Grant, a former Miss Rodeo Canada who is the rodeo coordinator with C-5 said she was in Williams Lake for the Indoor Rodeo in 2013 and loved her visit to the lakecity.

"It's a very cool rodeo community," she said, noting how excited she is to return and to work with the Williams Lake Stampede, which will take place from June 28 to July 1.

"We are thrilled to be heading to Williams Lake with a talented stock line up and top notch production," said Vern McDonald, owner of C5 Rodeo. "The Williams Lake Stampede is a cornerstone of rodeo culture in British Columbia, and we're looking forward to contributing to its storied tradition."

The collaboration marks a significant milestone for both parties, which they said will elevate the competition and entertainment value for rodeo fans and participants alike. C5 Rodeo's commitment to excellence and innovation in rodeo entertainment aligns perfectly with the Stampede's legacy of showcasing the best in rodeo sports.

"We are very excited to be working with C5 Rodeo Company for the 96th Annual Williams Lake Stampede. The spectators and competitors have spoken and we have listened. C5 Rodeo will provide our event with four performances of world class rodeo action," said Court Smith, president of the Williams Lake Stampede Association.
