The William Lake Pickleball Club presented the Lake City Secondary School with pickleball paddles to support the youth in their physical education classes.
The club the were able to purchase the school paddles thanks to a youth grant from Pickleball BC.
Lake City Secondary School classes have been coming out to play pickleball for their PE Classes and the club members had noticed the students were using paddles meant for younger children.
So club president Darlene Lainchbury said the group decided to apply for a grant from Pickleball BC on the school’s behalf.
“Monday morning we presented them with their new paddles and they were very excited to get out and use them,” said Lainchbury.
The Williams Lake Pickleball Club is also hosting a Poker tournament on May 26 for members. The tournament will start at 8 a.m., with cash prizes and gift card draws. The tournament will take place at the Cariboo Memorial Complex in Rink 2 and spectators are welcome.
