The Williams Lake Youth Rodeo Club will be hosting the city’s version of Little Britches Rodeo on May 25 and 26 at the Stampede Grounds.
The rodeo will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday, and will include both junior and senior events.
“There will be young cowboys and cowgirls from all over B.C. showcasing their roping and riding skills throughout the weekend,” said BCLBRA president Derek Mobbs.
Young competitors, aged three to 15, from across the region and province will be highlighting their skills over the two-day event. Juniors are three to 10 and seniors are 11 to 15-years-old.
Junior events include goat tail tying, dummy roping, stake racing, steer riding, pole bending and barrel racing.
Senior events include goat tying, breakaway roping, stake racing, chute dogging, steer riding, barrel racing and pole bending.
Last year’s event in Williams Lake saw almost 120 young athletes gather together to compete in the rodeo that is designed to nurture youth cowboys and cowgirls.
Admission is free and Mobbs is encouraging the community to show their support for the next generation of athletes.
“Come on down and cheer on thee next and up-and-coming rodeo stars.”
