Team Rebel Fit from Williams Lake crushes powerlifting competition

A team of three powerlifters from Williams Lake set some records at a competition in Prince George

Williams Lake powerlifters were crushing the competition in Prince George and setting records in the process on Aug. 24.

The team broke six records at the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) Summer Slam - Push Pull event.

The WPC national records were broken by Team Rebel Fit members Jeremy LaBelle, Jaskirat Parmar and Raiden Lainchbury.

The competition included deadlift and bench events and all three young men finished first place in their divisions.

Parmar lifted 222.5 kg total, setting a new WPC national total record in his division with an 80 kg bench lift and a 142.5 kg deadlift. 

LaBelle lifted 297.5 kg total, with a 107.5 kg bench, which set a new WPC national bench record for his division, and a 190 kg deadlift.

Lainchbury lifted a total of 390 kg, with a 142.5 kg bench lift and a 227.5 kg deadlift, all three of these numbers set new WPC national records. 

The group said they hope to add more local competitors to their team and are aiming for the 2025 WPC National competition in May 2025, which will also be in Prince George.
