The 2024 Pedal by the Puddle enduro mountain bike event has been cancelled.
After having a successful return in 2023, the event drew too few registrations this year to move ahead, said organizer Mike Franklin.
In order to cover the cost of the event, they needed a minimum of 50 registrants, and by the time they decided to cancel in early September, they were not close enough to this goal to go ahead.
Last year, 52 riders rode the course, as teams or solo riders, making as many laps of the 11 km loop as they could in six hours.
The event was scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15, and would have taken place on the same loop as last year, beginning on Guna-A-Noot trail off of the Dog Creek Road. The route takes in parts of the trails Twizzler, Rotnee, Wine Jug, Leppard Spots, Allsorts, and more, with the majority of the trail being blue-rated.
Last year's event aimed to create a fun mountain bike community event as well as raise awareness and funding for Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin, a service centre for youth providing everything from social, mental health, education and medical resources for youth ages 12-24.
