The weather was perfect a 9 a.m. for the start of the run in the river valley with partially cloudy skies and a light breeze and temperatures hovering at 14ºC.

The 15 km racers began on the road, headed across the Mortensen Memorial Bridge, that recognizes the late Sheila Mortensen who was a Rotarian and proposed a new bridge to replace an aging one.

Lewis described the route as a "little bit challenging."

"We have some beautiful trails and we utilize a lot of the mountain biking trails," she said.

The route will take the runners up to the repeater tower, past trees and wildflowers and offer some great views.

Runners and walkers doing the 5 km route started at 10 a.m.

"The first woman in the 15 km was fifth overall," Lewis said, adding "it was a very fast crowd."

She described the 5 km as speedy too.

"Everyone did so well, lots of smiles, no injuries and everyone finished. The Pride Society served burgers for us and brought the best vibes for the apres run. They were able to collect a great donation for the pride society," Lewis added.
