Wildfire sparked near Gibraltar Mine Nov. 17

A wildfire is still burning near Gibraltar Mine between Williams Lake and Quesnel, but is now listed as under control.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) notes the fire was reported on Friday, Nov. 17 at 3:54 p.m. and is .009 hectares in size. A BCWS response officer attended the incident, but no action was taken by BCWS.

Other personnel were on site actioning the fire.

The fire is believed to have been human-caused and Cariboo Fire Centre did say there are Category 3 piles being burned in the area.

As of Oct. 27 there are no open burning bans.

Williams Lake Fire Department (WLFD) responded to a wildfire on Fox Mountain near Ross Road on Nov. 13 after slash piles in a fuel management area which had been burning for a few days got away due to winds.

It is unseasonably dry throughout the region.
