RCMP respond to weapons complaint in Williams Lake

RCMP in Williams Lake responded to a firearms complaint on Oct. 23.

A member of the public called 9-1-1 and reported they observed an someone walking around with what appeared to be the barrel of a rifle sticking out of a backpack reported Staff Sgt. Brad McKinnon with the Williams Lake RCMP. 

The incident occurred near Oliver Street and Eighth Avenue North.

"Police officers responded and took all required steps to ensure public safety," said McKinnon. 

In the end, the officers spoke with the individual in question and examined the situation, and found the item in question was not a firearm.

McKinnon said no further risks to public safety existed.
