BC Wildfire Service, in partnership with Williams Lake First Nation, will be conducting a two-hectare prescribed burn in preparation for future maintenance treatments on Fox Mountain.

Preparation will take place on either side of Fox Mountain Road before Mason Road to reduce wildfire risk and prepare the area for future ignitions.

This project will maintain a previous fuel management treatment that was completed in 2010.

Ignitions for this site may begin as early as April 19, 2024 and continue until May 3, 2024.

Ignitions will proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for quick smoke dissipation. Smoke and flames will be visible from the city of Williams Lake and surrounding areas.

While burning is underway, traffic control will be on-site to ensure the safety of public and firefighters, short delays may occur.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone.
