Smoke and flames will be visible from Dog Creek Road and from the south side of Williams Lake, said the BC Wildfire Service
Wildfire hazard reduction work continues in the Williams Lake area with the next area of focus along Dog Creek Road.
Burning could begin as early as Monday, Dec. 2 until the end of March 2025, said the BC Wildfire Service. It will depend on good venting conditions.
"Smoke and flames will be visible from Dog Creek Road and from the south side of Williams Lake."
BC Wildfire Service said in partnership with the Cariboo Chilcotin Natural Resource District will be burning debris piles on the northeast side of the road, across from Ottoman Drive and on the northeast side of the road, behind Centaur Drive and Cataline Drive.
"Work that is remaining for this project is the burning of the debris piles located throughout the twelve hectare area. Cariboo-Chilcotin Natural Resource District staff will be working to ensure operational services meet the fuel management prescription(s) specifications and project objectives."
The Ministry of Forests has completed wildfire risk reduction projects within the district, including on Fox Mountain, Airport Road, South Lakeside, Dog Creek, Chimney Valley and Tinmusket.
