PHOTOS: Williams Lake leaders bring local issues to UBCM meet ups

Local leaders have meetings with provincial ministers and the premier while they attend the Union of BC Municipalities conference in Vancouver

Williams Lake Mayor Surinderpal Rathor, Councillor Sheila Boehm and Councillor Scott Nelson are all at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) conference in Vancouver this week.

The three, along with some key staff, had meetings with Hon. Anne Kang, minister of municipal affairs, Premier David Eby, and Hon. Adrian Dix, minister of health.

City council had discussed some of their most pressing topics to take to these discussions, including the current shortage of access to primary health care and family doctors in our community and the potential closure of Atlantic Power Williams Lake plant.

Each year, municipalities in the province send delegates to the conference to both bring their local issues to the provincial level as well as find ways to work together to address issues facing many municipalities throughout the province.
