University of British Columbia Institute for Oceans and Fisheries will be in Williams Lake Wednesday, May 8, to talk about the future of salmon.

Williams Lake is one of 14 stops for a series of Community Salmon Dialogues across B.C. seeking input from all community members about the future of Pacific salmon.

The Community Salmon Dialogue meetings welcome anyone who is concerned about the future of Pacific salmon and would like to share their knowledge and listen to others.

All meetings will be audio-recorded to enable meeting summaries and ensure accuracy of key points. All meeting summaries will be openly available via UBC/IOF web page after the meetings are concluded.

Based on these summaries UBC will provide a final report to governments, media, and participants in March 2025.

The session in Williams Lake will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Gibraltar Room at 525 Proctor Street.

Other communities the discussions will be held in after Williams Lake are Merritt, Kamloops, Terrace, Smithers, West Vancouver, Richmond and Chilliwack.
