Four Williams Lake youth curlers are heading to the BC Winter Games beginning Feb. 22, in Quesnel.
Talana Brown-John, 15; Kelsey Camille, 13; Brayden Tyrrell, 14; and Eli Sanford, 12, will compete at the games.
The Zone 8 boys and girls teams contain youth spread across northern B.C., with the girls team having two girls from Williams Lake, two from Prince George and one from Dawson Creek. The boys team has two from Williams Lake and three from Prince George.
Brown-John, who attends Williams Lake Secondary School, has been curling for eight years. This will be her second year going to the winter games.
Camille, who attends Columneetza Jr. Secondary School, has been curling for three years and will also be attending the games for the second year.
Tyrrell of Columneetza Jr. Secondary School has been curling for five years. This will be his first year at the games.
Sanford from Cataline Elementary School has been curling for six years and will attend the winter games for his first year.
Despite being spread out, the teams still make the time to practice together. Brown-John’s mother, Kimberly, said the teams did a workshop in Prince George in December and a bonspiel in January. Another bonspiel takes place in February.
