Update Saturday, Feb. 8 7:30 a.m.
Crews remained on the scene of a house fire on Gibbon Road in Williams Lake until about 9 p.m. Friday evening, Feb. 7
"Crews had a great deal of difficulty accessing the fire due to the stage of fire development as well as the considerable amount of debris and vehicles throughout the property," Williams Lake fire chief Evan Dean said.
In total 25 members, three command vehicles, and all six of the WLFD’s large apparatus responded to the fire as well as one tender from 150 Mile FD, and an excavator. Crews finally wrapped up at approximately 9:00 p.m.
"At this time the cause of the fire is unknown although it is not considered suspicious," Dean said.
Update 4:30 p.m
The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a house fire on Gibbon Road Friday, Feb. 7.
Fire Chief Evan Dean said crews have reamined on site and are there with an excavator.
"We appreciate the public's patience with regard to local road closures," he said, referring to the fact Gibbon Road is partially closed.
Dean said on arrival earlier Friday the single family dwelling had smoke and flames showing from all sides, but the residence was vacated and there were no injuries.
The 150 Mile Volunteer Fire Department attended with a tender, which Dean said was very appreciated.
