A drug poisoning alert has been issued for Williams Lake and surrounding area by Interior Heath (IH) on Friday, Nov. 8 due to increased fatal and ongoing non-fatal overdoses.
In a bulletin accompanying the alert, IH notes matter what or how you use (smoking, snorting, injecting, eating) take steps to prevent overdose:
Anyone using drugs is encouraged to get the drugs checked. To find locations where drugs are tested go to drugchecking.ca.
IH warns that people should be aware of the increased risk if mixing with other drugs, including alcohol.
"Use one person at a time so someone can respond to overdose if needed. Use with others around. Start with a small amount and space out your doses."
Carrying Naloxone and knowing how use it is also advised as well as downloading the LifeGuard App - lifeguarddh.com.
