Denisiqi Services Society in Williams Lake has received one of five BC Principals' & Vice-Principals’ Association (BCPVPA) partnership awards.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said the team at Denisiqi in a news release. “This award acknowledges the collaboration and mutual commitment we share in enhancing the well being of children. We take pride in the meaningful partnership we've developed with SD 27 and the positive effects we are achieving together. This accolade is a testament to our team's dedication to building a brighter future for children, emphasizing innovation, care, and support. We eagerly anticipate continuing our efforts to improve outcomes for young people.”
BCPVA noted recipients of awards have supported their school communities through the delivery of culturally appropriate child and family programs, through quiet and respectful contributions to meet the needs of vulnerable youth, through supporting children’s goals and development, through the powerful creation of a connected community, and through supporting education in both direct and indirect ways.
Other award recipients were Friends of qathet, Powell River, Selen Alpay of Prince George, Laichwiltach Family Life Society in Campbell River and Ryan Wank of Dease Lake.
The recipients were honoured Friday, Nov. 22 in Vancouver at an award ceremony.
“We are so moved each year when we see the depth and complexity of the work undertaken by individuals, organizations, and businesses who contribute to the lives of local students and schools,” said BCPVPA president, Dr. Shannon Behan. “This is true community-building, where our students – our future citizens and leaders – are recognized and seen, and their needs nurtured and supported by people beyond the environs of their schools.”
Nominations are submitted by the BCPVPA’s 60 chapters that provide professional support to principals and vice-principals across the province.
Denisqi was nominated for the award by the Cariboo-Chilcotin chapter in School District 27.
In August, the society celebrated its 20th anniversary with an outdoor event at the Tsilhqot'in National Government office on South Lakeside Drive.
