100 Mile House RCMP responded to 89 calls last week.

The most notable of these occurred on March 7. On that day, RCMP Sgt. Brian Lamb said the BC Highway Patrol observed a vehicle speeding at 154 km/h on Highway 97 near Campbell Road - a 100 km/h zone. The driver was issued a violation ticket and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Later that same day Lamb said a driver was seen throwing beer cans out of a window. The driver was then stopped - and it was discovered he had an arrest warrant from Williams Lake. He was subsequently arrested and held in custody. A passenger in the vehicle was also served a ticket for drinking open liquor inside a car.

School buses were the subject of two RCMP dispatches last week. On March 5, RCMP officers responded to a report from School District 27 where a vehicle was seen failing to stop for a school bus flashing red lights on Telqua Drive. The owner of the car was fined $368 for the act.

On March 11, the RCMP were called to the 4000 block of Telqua Drive where they allegedly found damage to a bus’ grill and hood/roof. RCMP believe the damage was caused by someone climbing on the bus and committing mischief.

Lamb said they also caught two unlicensed drivers with no insurance. On March 6, the BC Highway Patrol stopped a motorcycle whose driver had no valid insurance or driver’s license. The driver was issued a violation ticket, and the motorcycle was impounded.

On March 9, a vehicle was found by the BC Highway Patrol without any licence plates, and the driver was given violation tickets for not having a driver’s license or insurance.

Other incidents include a single-vehicle rollover Lamb said that happened on March 9 on Highway 97 north of Exeter Road. Upon investigation, the Lamb said officers found drugs but no one inside the vehicle.

After locating the occupants, Lamb said they were not forthcoming with information. Officers issued the owner a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

On March 11, the RCMP caught a driver with a licence plate infraction and found he was not only prohibited from driving, but also in possession of an air pistol. The RCMP arrested him for driving while prohibited and possession of a weapon.

On that same day RCMP officers responded to a break and enter of a residence on Dodge Road in Lac La Hache. The owner of the residence alerted police after his security cameras picked up the alleged act in progress.

Lamb said officers located and arrested two male youths believed to be involved with the incident. Both youth have since been released to their guardians.
