LETTERS: Provincial election boundaries need changing

Rural citizens are being short-changed

Editor:

The government must change the way they set the provincial election boundaries. The Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland ridings are very populated with a small area to cover. Their ridings can have their relatively similar needs met while the MLA is on a coffee break.
Many rural ridings have huge areas with many different social and economic issues leaving their MLA with little time to address their concerns - the MLA is on the road researching to understand and work for solutions.
Rural citizens are being short-changed. Ridings should be established by a factor or population and area covered. The time spent per constituent in the rural areas is huge. It would give the rural areas a chance to have a fair share of influence in the management of the province's affairs.
