Hi, many of you probably know me as the Town Crier, but I like to think I'm also a town listener, booster, observer and supporter. I just want to thank all the organizers and students and volunteers who made this year's Medieval Market a real demonstration of "community" in the truest sense.
The School District and the city and the region could not ask for or imagine a better positive example for the multitudes who attended or participated. I heard one vendor from out of town speak about spending over $2,000 in the town over the weekend, it was worth that much for him to come up.
I heard from and about tourists making a special trip to Williams Lake and the Medieval Market and other markets/events/destinations like the Station House Gallery because there was that much to do.
I saw our MLA, city councillors, CRD reps all taking part, with huge smiles on their faces seeing the infectious positivity of the event. My kids all went to local schools, loved it, remember it fondly and I'm a Big Brother to a current student who seems pretty happy with his time spent at LCSS.
I'm also a taxpayer and I want to continue to see our schools as social hubs of the community. That's the image and atmosphere Williams Lake and SD27 must continue to cultivate if we are to remain vibrant and attract and retain the skilled people we need and will continue to need. That's why Medieval Market is highlighted on the SD27 website.
Can't wait for the newer, bigger, better 2025 edition. Hear ye, hear ye!
