The Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena needs some building material.

In a Facebook post on Nov. 19, representatives of the arena said it needs metal roofing four to five feet long in any colour. Russ Neher, the manager of the Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena in Lac La Hache, said that new metal roofing panels are needed to protect the uprights in the arena from moisture, rain splatter and winter snowfall.

"(The vertical supports are) constantly wet and stuff, so it'd be a good idea, from what I was told, to just put the metal on there so they can dry out," Neher explained. He further added that the arena needs roughly 15 of those metal roofing pieces - and that the back side of the arena is the most important.

"Because that seems to be where it's the wettest," Neher said. "The back side - I'm the only one that ever goes out there."

The Facebook post added that even if the metal roofing is damaged or dented in any way, it would not be a problem. Neher says that this is because the metal roofs are only to keep the water away from the supports to prevent water damage.

"We're going to screw them into the cement poles and then bend it around the poles and then screw it into the existing side," Neher added.

The Facebook post also mentioned that the arena needed wire racks - but that issue seems to have been resolved after a local contractor - Brian Hopkins of Lakeshore Mechanical - ordered three wire racks from Costco.

"He's been kind enough to order those and donate them to the arena - so that's all covered," Neher explained.

Those who have metal roofing pieces for the arena can drop them off at the back service door anywhere against the building.
