With the nomination period closing end of day Tuesday, Oct.1, it’s time to buy your tickets and plan your outfit for the annual Business Excellence Awards in Williams Lake.

The event will take place in the Sacred Heart Catholic School’s gym, which will be decorated according to this year’s theme, the Kentucky Derby. Don your best fascinator or fedora to compete for the night’s best-dressed award, and be ready to take part in a silent auction for items donated by local businesses.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event which recognizes the excellence of Williams Lake and district’s top businesses, organizations and business owners. There are 10 awards to be won by nominees, ranging from the Not-for-Profit award which highlights “outstanding contributions to the community,” to the Service Excellence Award which focuses on a business or individual who consistently offers positive, helpful and knowledgeable service to their customers.

Winners will be determined by five anonymous judges who will read through each nomination and determine which story best suits the award’s criteria. Each nominated business will also have the opportunity to win the Business of the Year Award for its contribution to the local economy’s strength, among other criteria.

Tickets cost $100 and include drinks, dinner and entertainment by a surprise local artist. There’s space for 210 people to attend the Oct. 26 event, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Businesses are also invited to purchase an $800 sponsorship which will allow them to present one of the ten Business Excellence Awards.

For those interested in attending the event, purchasing sponsorship, donating items for the silent auction or volunteering with the event or to decorate, you can reach out to the Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce.
