The Magic of Ireland dance troup will be performing at the Gibraltar Room Thursday, April 7 with two new cast members.

Joining the show are award winner of the 2009 Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year, Troy MacGillivray, and Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Champion of 2009/2010, Julie Fitzgerald.

Featured artists in the show include Thea Award winning actor and designer with Toronto Irish Players, Jonathan Lynn and Kevin Kennedy, featured in John N. Smith’s NFB Oscar nominated docudrama The First Winter and an active member of the Toronto Irish Players.

The Magic of Ireland is comprised of a young and talented group of dancers and musicians dedicated to re-creating the ambiance, moods and emotions associated with Irish and Celtic music.

This show brings to the stage traditional Irish and Celtic music in an evening filled with fast and graceful dance steps, authentic music and enchanting songs, enhanced with traditional Irish and Celtic instruments.

The troupe’s energy, enthusiasm and precision have drawn praise from audiences across North America and in Europe.

The sounds heard through the years at harvest celebrations and family get-togethers, in kitchen parties and at local taverns, are as much a part of Ireland’s culture as are the legends of leprechauns and other magical faerie folk.

One reviewer commented on how the energy of the performers seemed to be driven by the audience participation, which “grew as the evening progressed.”
