Kids cowboy carnival/two dances lined up for Indoor Rodeo

The youngest cowboys and cowgirls will have an opportunity to try stick barrel racing at the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo.

The youngest cowboys and cowgirls will have an opportunity to try stick barrel racing, dummy roping, bucking bull barrels, bean bag toss, cowboy colouring, and meet rodeo clown Dennis Halstead during the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo’s Cowboy Carnival.

The Cowboy Carnival is geared for children ages 10 and under who are accompanied by an adult. The event takes place at the Cariboo Memorial Complex, Friday morning, April 15 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Friday evening rising B.C. country star Ben Klick and his band will perform at the dance starting at 9 p.m. and running until 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Saturday evening, April 15, Ben Klick and his band will open for country star Lee Dinwoodie and his band performing at the rodeo’s annual barn dance starting at 9 p.m.

Safe rides home from the dances are provided by donation.

Williams Lake Indoor Rodeos take place at the Cariboo Memorial Complex at 6 p.m. Friday, April 15; 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16; and Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. Rodeo slack runs Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The grand entries will include the Wild West Riders, Williams Lake Stampede Queen Cheyleigh Sand, B.C. High School Rodeo Queen Melanie Wintjes and other visiting royalty.

During a ceremony at the Sunday rodeo Raphael Alphonse (working cowboy) and Hank Krynen (working cowboy/horseman) will be inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
