For their 10th anniversary the Maranatha Players are staging the musical Flapper! directed by Becky Strickland, who has been coaching the Maranatha Christian School students in theatre since the beginning of the program.

Flapper! celebrates the colourful decade of the roaring 20s and introduces us to Polly Pepper, a young flapper who really knows how to live in the time of Stutz bearcat automobiles, Ziegfeld girls, raccoon coats, goldfish swallowers, speak easies, and gangsters.

Polly is about to turn 18 and will inherit a fabulous diamond.

She is planning a madcap birthday party and is inviting all her pals to come out and help her celebrate the big day.

But there’s trouble ahead! Mona and a couple of two-bit mobsters are planning to grab the necklace and make a cool $1 million. Not only that, there are two con artists on the loose trying to convince Polly’s aunt Augusta that Manchurian stocks are really a bargain.

Flapper! is on stage at the Maranatha theatre Dec. 1-3 and 8-9 starting at 7 p.m., and Dec. 10 at 1 and 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Wise Owl Toys and Maranatha Christian School; adults (over 13) $10, and children and seniors $8.
