The Williams Lake Film Club is showing the film Gasland as part of its awareness series this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. in the Gibraltar Room.

Travelling across 24 states to interview families, EPA whistleblowers, congressmen and scientists in vast drilling areas, Fox learns of things gone horribly wrong, from illness to flammable water.
Various types of proppant are used in fracturing, including sand, resin-coated sand, and man-made ceramics depending on the type of permeability or grain strength needed.
Radioactive sand is sometimes used so that the fracture trace along the wellbore can be measured.

Gasland has received the Special Jury Prize at Sundance, it was nominated for an Oscar, but did not win. Not much of a surprise there.
