Chris Peterson, Andrew Peterson, Sherry Day Foster, Dawn Wall, Janet Catalano and Rocco Catalano were some of the people who shared their talent and enthusiasm at a Summertime Jam at Miocene Hall on Sunday.

What started out as a couple of families getting together and playing some music turned into a community event at Miocene on Sunday. Local resident Sherry Day Foster was celebrating her birthday, and with family visiting from Texas and Washington, decided to invite other music-lovers to join in. Singer Ingrid Mapson shared some songs from her most recent CD, as well as some sing-along tunes, and others played harmonica, guitar, ukulele, piano, bass, keyboard and more.

“We jammed a few times with Rocco Catalano and his family,” Foster stated. “They’d just tear up my living room and we’d have to move all the furniture. It was so fun, we just wanted to open it up to the Miocene community.”

Ross McCoubrey, Chair of the Miocene Community Club was the MC at the jam. “We wanted to hold this to encourage different genres of music for fun,” he said.

The enthusiastic audience played hand-held rhythm instruments and sang along.

More than one audience member expressed a wish that music jams in Miocene Hall would become a regular event.
