Back country adventure stories to be shared

Naturalists share their adventures in B.C. back country with a presentation at Scout Island Nature House.

Naturalists who explored two wilderness areas of B.C. this summer will give a presentation on their adventures at the Scout Island Nature House this month.

In June, lakecity field naturalist Cathy Koot joined a small party of naturalists and guides on a 10-day horse pack trip into the Ilgatchuz Mountains in the West Chilcotin.

The group collected data for the B.C. Breeding Bird Atlas.

Then in August, Koot and two other Williams Lake Field Naturalists back-packed for a week in Monkman Provincial Park in the Central Rockies.

For several days, they were the only people in this 63,000 hectare backcountry!

On Nov. 22, Koot and the Williams Lake Field Naturalists are providing a free presentation for the public on both adventures titled Tales and Sights from Two B.C. Wilderness Adventures.

The presentation takes place at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Scout Island Nature Centre house.
