In June of this year we had some work done in our park. Some trees were removed as they were a hazard to our homes.
One tree they removed had two young, hairy woodpeckers in it.
I found them in a pile of cut trees. Mama was still feeding them.
For their safety I asked my friend, John, to bring his chainsaw. He cut the section of the trunk containing the young birds and then we tied that part of the tree to another tree.
Three weeks later the young flew away.
