Margaret-Anne Enders and Sue Price practise some yoga during the Women’s Spirituality Circle held Saturday at the St. Andrew United Church. The theme of this year’s event was Cultivating Gratitude.

Cultivating Gratitude was the theme for the Women’s Spirituality Circle’s third annual gathering.

The event Saturday included sharing circles, workshops and activities including yoga, water colour painting, singing, creating mandalas and labyrinths, smudging, dancing and drumming.

In workshop sessions participants also had the opportunity to learn about spiritual practices from Baha’i, Christianity, Messianic Judaism, and Yoga traditions.

Event co-ordinator Margaret Anne-Enders said that many people in the community have found this spring to be very hard, which is why they chose the theme Cultivating Gratitude.

“Violence and fear in the community, racism, fires — all these things are a burden to our spirits,” Enders said. “At times like this, amidst hardships, it is important to remember to be thankful for the blessings that we do have.”

Cultivating Gratitude included lunch, snacks and late-afternoon appetizers and was held at St. Andrew’s United Church hall Saturday, May 14.
