The International Women’s Day dinner held at Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake Friday evening was a real treat.

Appetizers were served in abundance as participants made their way to the cafeteria through a maze of interesting local business displays.

Then came a delicious dinner followed by presentation of the Women’s Contact Society’s third annual Woman of Heart Award.

The award was presented by Women’s Centre executive director Irene Willsie (left) and Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre intake manager Coleen Onofrechuk to the CDC’s founder Aileen Hewett.

A variety of entertainment followed including belly dancing, several musical performances and a moving presentation by a Gail Pilgrim who has written a book about her experiences with sexual abuse.
