Friday, Dec. 1, 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre, 90 Fourth Avenue North. Participants will make natural arts and crafts. Donations of non-perishable food and warm clothing for charity is greatly appreciated.

The Witness Blanket

Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Thompson Rivers University - Williams Lake campus. Special guest Kukpi7 (Chief) Fred Robbins of Esket’emc First Nation will speak and provide lived experience of residential school. The event will provide an opportunity to view the at installation of the travelling exhibit of the Witness Blanket by master carver Carey Newman/Hayalthkin’geme. Entry is $10, with a sliding scale for those in need. TRU WL students - entry fee waived. Refreshments provided. Please register via email at williamslakearts@gmail.com by Dec. 6.

From Dec. 1 to 15, the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce will be collecting donations for the Cariboo Friendship Society’s Program for children and Youth Experiencing Violence. Donation suggestions include games, school supplies, puzzles, art and craft supplies and gift cards and can be dropped off at the Tourism Discovery Centre, 1660 Broadway Ave. South. Staff will turn on the light display at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.

Winter Lights

Festival

On Saturday, Dec. 2, there will be Winter Lights Activities from 1 to 4 p.m. downtown. Check out the decorated windows downtown. The Winter Lights parade starts at 5 p.m., followed by an indoor Winter Lights Warm up from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Limelight Theatre, 190A Oliver Street.

Sunday, Dec. 3, the Williams Lake Hospice Society (WLHS) is hosting its 28th annual Memory Tree celebration, a service of remembrance and healing, honouring loved ones who have passed away. The celebration takes place at city council chambers on Sunday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Come enjoy Christmas music Monday evening Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church on 549 Carson Drive.

Admission is free but donations are being collected for the food bank (money and nonperishable items). Come and listen to music from the band and singing from special guests.
