Williams Lake upcoming events includes fun for Family Day

Monday, Feb. 19

The Family Ice Fishing Derby presented by the 150 Mile Elementary PAC takes place at Dugan Lake on Horsefly Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $20, children 12 and under free. There will be prizes. Tickets are available at Marshall’s Store and Chilcotin Guns.

Also on Family Day, the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex is celebrating the day with free facility access on Monday.

Bring the whole family from noon to 3:30 p.m. for a swim, workout at the gym or a skate on Rink 1.

Tuesday, Feb. 20

Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association is hosting its AGM in Room 1308 at TRU. The meeting will start at 6 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 23

Cariboo Art Beat is hosting an art show to raise awareness about mental health. There will be music and an opening at 5:30 p.m. at the CAB studio, side entrance below Caribou Ski Source for Sports. Anyone wanting to contribute art or perform at the event is asked to email caribooartbeat@gmail.com. All proceeds from the event will go to Canadian Mental Health Association Cariboo Chilcotin Branch.

Saturday, Feb. 24

Williams Lake Craft Beer Festival. A fundraising event for area community organizations, including the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.

This year’s event is on Saturday, Feb. 24 and goes from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Thompson Rivers University.

With 18 craft breweries, cideries and distilleries signed on and more expected still to confirm, the event will once again offer a broad range of tastings for attendees.

Tickets for the event are available online via Eventbrite.ca and are $100 per person.

Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25

Red Cross Babysitters Course. This nationally recognized course teaches participants about the rights and responsibilities of babysitting, as well as injury prevention and emergency action.

The course goes from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day for youth ages 11-15. Cost is $60 through CMRC. Pre-registration is required.
