Williams Lake Lohri celebration takes place Jan. 18

Lohri is a winter Punjabi folk festival celebrated in Northern India held to mark the end of winter and longer days ahead.

A Lohri celebration will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 in Williams Lake. 

Lohri is a winter Punjabi folk festival celebrated in Northern India held to mark the end of winter and longer days ahead. 

The event for women only and will be held in the Gibraltar Room at the Cariboo Memorial Complex. 

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for an evening of fun including dinner, dancing and door prizes, said Amarjit Khakh, one of the organizers. 

Anyone wanting to purchase tickets for the evening is encouraged to contact Khakh at 250-302-1118.
