Preparations have begun for the 2024 Williams Lake Craft Beer Festival, a favourite local fundraiser for the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.

On February 24, 2024, the eighth annual Craft Beer Festival will take place again at the Thompson Rivers University campus in Williams Lake, but it will still take some work to make it all come together.

Last year was the festival’s return after COVID and 18 sampling booths from breweries and cideries were on offer and admission included a range of catered snacks circulating throughout the event.

“We put a lot of effort into picking food that everybody would enjoy,” said Shane Nicoll, a member of the organizing committee.

The event also includes a silent auction and it wouldn’t happen without support from many local organizations, including the Citizens on Patrol, Lions Club, and Rustlers Rugby Club.

Nicoll said this year they have some new breweries already signed on and hope to bring back as many of last year’s as possible too.

While last year the event saw slightly lower ticket sales than in previous years, they still managed to raise nearly $30,000 to support the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.

Tickets last year were $100 for the night of drinks and food. Next year’s tickets are not yet finalized for the event, but are expected to go on sale in late November.

Local businesses are however able to sign up for sponsorship already, which gives sponsors promotion as part of the event as well as tickets.
