Coun. Michael Moses organized a birthday Earth Day garbage clean up on April 22 in Boitanio Park.

Moses brought bags, gloves and garbage pickers for participants and gave a brief speech before people went out into the park.

“This is a really exciting day of the year, where we get to bring attention to a topic that really needs a lot more attention which is climate adaptation, climate action, sustainability, environmentalism, this is what we’re here for today,” he said.

“Let’s enjoy this afternoon and this beautiful weather and collect some garbage to beautify our community a little bit.”

To celebrate both his own birthday and Earth Day at the same time, Moses invited friends out to join him as he helped clean the park over a lunch hour.

He said he hopes to make the garbage pick up a weekly event.
